In April 2021, Dr. Larry White, Sr. conducted an interview to highlight the history of the Bachelor Benedict Club (BBC) with Robert Duncan, the Archivist for the organization. Mr. Duncan provides the historical context of how the BBC came into existence and it’s unique connection to the District of Columbia.

Robert Duncan has been a member of the Bachelor-Benedict Club of Washington DC for 15 years. He has spent the last 11 years in roles of leadership and responsibility. These roles have included: President, Archivist, Chairman of the Centennial Journal Committee, (Published the BBC ‘Centennial Journal: One Hundred Years of Brotherhood’), Chairman of the Red Sash Ball and Initiation Ball, and Member of the Personnel Committee (Executive Board) for four Presidents.
Robert had the honor of serving the Bachelor-Benedict Club as President in 2017-2018. During his terms, he successfully implemented new initiatives such as Members Only business-casual events, a robust full-featured Website, a more meaningful initiation enclave, and amended (updated) the Constitution and By-Laws for the first time in 30 years. His leadership is responsible for having the Club being honored with an exhibit as part of the new DC History Center’s “Big Picture Exhibit” in the renovated Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square cementing the Bachelor-Benedict Club as an integral part of DC History. He has recently completed two terms serving the organization as its’ Archivist (2019-2020).
Most notably under his leadership, the Bachelor-Benedict Community Foundation, Inc., an affiliate charitable entity, was established. He currently serves this organization as a Founder, President and Chairman of the Board.
