Through the years, in attempts to increase the camaraderie and communication between members, the Club’s formal affairs have been augmented by members-only events. This concept began in the late 1930s and, by 1941, an Annual Smoker was held at various long-forgotten venues in the city, such as the Murray Casino or the Whitelaw Hotel.
On June 7, 2017, Brother Jeffrey A. Banks spearheaded the Club’s modern-day version of this activity. We have labeled these as ‘Members Only Events’. With the assistance of Bros. Jason Sockwell and Charles Gaither these initial events took place at Busboys and Poets, located in the Brookland section of the city. Subsequently, Bro. Banks has chaired two more get-togethers, one on August 24, 2017 and the second on March 5, 2018. The member turnout has been excellent and speaks well for additional Members Only and Open networking events in the future.
